In Iowa Ag, students learned about different livestock breeds by researching, painting, and creating cardboard models of their selected breed along with clue cards featuring the breed’s origin, characteristics, and fun facts.
To finish the activity, students walked around the classroom guessing the breeds their classmates created. It was a fun and creative way to learn more about the diversity of livestock in agriculture!
See if you can guess the breeds...

Today the 4th graders went to the Grundy County Fairgrounds to participate in Progressive Agriculture Safety Day. We learned about animal safety, coping skills, lawnmower safety, gun safety, first aid, farm safety, fire safety, sun safety, electrical safety, grain bin safety, and emergency plans. Tonight is the night!

Calling all 8th-11th graders 🚨🚨 Informational cheer meeting. If you are interested we will be meeting during X-Block for high schoolers and I will meet with the 8th graders during their high school visit on 5/18

Fourth grade SAIL has put in the time creating their own business from brainstorming ideas, constructing marketing research by interviewing staff and students, creating a building blueprint, constructing a letter, creating a logo and business card. Lastly, they created questions for Matt and Megan Roelfs, local business owners. The students enjoyed a treat and learned and asked questions about how Chairish Life and Iowa Steel Masters started up. After that, the kids went behind the scenes of Iowa Steel Masters to see it in action. A big thank you goes out to the Roelfs for taking time out of their busy schedules to give these students the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship!

The Kindergarten classes had a great time cleaning up garbage to help celebrate Earth Day!

The FFA Chapter took a field trip, industry tour to two different places!
Our Juniors/Seniors went to Marshalltown to see Emerson Manufacturing to explore job opportunities at Emerson. They also went to Grundy County Conservation to talk about the history of farming in our area as well as natural resources.
Freshmen/Sophomore members headed to Ames where they got to visit Iowa State University. The stops included Horticulture Research Station to talk about horticulture, Swine and Sheep Research Farms about animal science, and lastly Jack Trice Stadium to talk about turf management.
Both groups enjoyed bowling at Wayward Social (Marshalltown) & at Perfect Games (Ames)
Thank you to the business and groups that were involved in helping make this field trip great at both Marshalltown and Iowa State!

The 7th grade FACS students are at it again. This time mac n' cheese is on the menu! The kids did a great job sharing the work and making a tasty snack. Great job, kids! Stay tuned for what our students will be making next.

Reminder that the Booster Club store is still available to order from. Lots of good options available as the weather warms up outside.

The 8th grade FACS students made chocolate chip cookies today! Even with some impromptu recipe changes/additions, students learned sometimes things work out better than expected. These kids even showed the Cougar Way and shared with their favorite, Mr. Dave. 😊 He approved!

The boys golf invitational scheduled for today at AP has been postponed to Wednesday.
Earth Day lessons have been the theme of Cougars' Critical Thinkers lately! We briefly covered the topic of renewable and nonrenewable resources. After that, students mined for "coal" in the "earth" or rather chocolate chips in the cookie. We reflected how mining changes the habitat. Obviously, students' favorite part was eating the cookie!
