The 8th graders have started a penny war to raise money for Retrieving Freedom-Changing lives through the training and placement of Service Dogs for Veterans with disabilities and children with autism. This will run until April 25th. Can’t wait to see which group has the most points!

Penny War description
Discovery Preschool had a busy week continuing their learning about community helpers and safety! The Post Office, People’s Savings Bank, and the library did an excellent job showing our preschoolers what their job involves and why they are important to our community. Chase from Grundy County Emergency Management came in and spoke to the class about emergency preparedness, and played an intense game of ‘telephone’ to show how important it is to be organized during an emergency. We ended our week at the Fire Station learning all about safety, what firefighters do, their tools, and -of course- the fire truck and ambulance. We are grateful for a community that goes above and beyond for our students!

We learned postal workers do a lot of sorting- just like in preschool!
Karen read “Book! Book! Book!” at the library
PSB had a great rotation: showing the vault, reading a book, and sorting/packaging coins
Chase from Grundy County Emergency Management explained ways to prepare and stay safe!
We learned about all of the tools and supplies emergency services use!
Checking out the ambulance
What a fun day!
