AGWSR FFA ALUMNI OFFICERS

President: Scott Menninga

Why Have You Chosen to Serve as an Alumni Chapter? I wanted to help establish an adult group that can stay involved with the current FFA chapter. So many good things have happened in the chapter the last 10 years that I think there needed to be an avenue to the public to help share these things. I also wanted to have a better network of agriculture professionals that wanted to help improve the existing club.

What Was Your Favorite Part of Being Involved in the FFA? I liked the opportunity that it provided me in leadership positions. I learned a lot about what it took to be a leader and it has helped establish a strong foundation in college and the workplace.

Vice President: Owen Heetland

Why Have You Chosen to Serve as an Alumni Chapter? I decided to serve as an alumni officer for the AGWSR Alumni FFA Chapter so that I could give back to the organization that helped guide me to my career today as an agronomist. Being in FFA helped me develop knowledge that I could apply in my agriculture courses in college at Iowa State University and the skills that I
use today farming and working as a sales agronomist at Innovative Ag. I feel like the organization offers training and helps bring kids back to their hometowns and communities, which is important with the dwindling population of small towns in Iowa and the current demand for more workers in the field of agriculture. I think public education and awareness of agriculture is important, and I believe the AGWSR FFA Chapter and Mr. Abbas are a good asset to help begin that education process for kids. I chose to serve as an alumni FFA officer because I’d like to see the AGWSR FFA Chapter continue to grow and be successful so that hopefully one day my kids will have the same opportunities offered by the organization as I did.

What Was Your Favorite Part of Being Involved in the FFA? I have many great memories of being a member of the AGWSR FFA Chapter that includes agronomy contests, being a part of the officer team, and showing tractors and livestock at the Iowa State Fair. I also really enjoyed the activities we did together as a chapter, such as trapshooting, fruit sales, senior trip, and helping to set up for the Franklin County Fair.

Secretary: Callie Erickson

Why Have You Chosen to Serve as an Alumni Chapter? I was a part of the Alumni Chapter back in my hometown and have seen what great things the Alumni does for the local chapter.  Serving as an officer on this provides me the opportunity to bring ideas to this chapter.

What Was Your Favorite Part of Being Involved in the FFA? My favorite part of being involved in FFA was the number of opportunities provided to me and the connections I made.

Treasurer: Kenzie Sprain

Why Have You Chosen to Serve as an Alumni Chapter? I think it's a great opportunity to get involved with our youth, to help mentor them and fundraise to provide financial support to open up additional opportunities out there that involve agriculture.

What Was Your Favorite Part of Being Involved in the FFA? Gaining a group of friends that had similar interests in agriculture and learning more about different career opportunities for me in agriculture.
