Educational Biography

Working with the students and staff at AGWSR middle school has been and continues to be a very full-filling experience.  The staff is extremely dedicated to our student's learning as well as their personal well-being and works really hard to meet the needs of every student.  The students that I have had the opportunity to get to know over the years have all been unique and I really enjoy working with this age student.  They are creative, eager to learn, and ready to explore their world.  I look forward to continuing my work here at the middle school.

Personal Biography

Time away from school is often spent right back here at school.  My favorite past-time is watching my own children grow into young adults here at AGWSR schools.  My daughter is currently a senior and is busy with all kinds of activities like speech and FFA and is also a member of National Honor Society.  She is an FFA officer and is involved in almost all activities and contests.  She spends countless hours keeping stats for football and wrestling.  She was also honored with being chosen to the homecoming court this year.  Next year she will be off to college at Iowa State University.  My 8th grade son also keeps me busy as he is involved in every sport possible.  His favorite is football, but we also enjoy watching him fly around the track, playing baseball, and spend countless hours at wrestling tournaments. My bench-buddy for all these activities is my husband. We have been married 20+ years and live on the family farm.  I also enjoy reading, gardening, spending time outdoors, and work at my second job which is managing my families restaurant.

4th Grade Art

We explore the elements of art through studio projects that include drawing, painting, and pottery.  The students also learn about famous artists and different styles of art.

5th Grade Art

We continue our exploration of the elements of art as well as studying different famous artists.  Students complete artworks which include drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking.

6th Grade Art

6th grade art is an exploratory where the students have an intensive art studio that meets every day for approximately 6 weeks.  The students study all the elements of design which includes a unit on color theory, line, shape, value, space, form, and texture. Students complete a painting project, drawings, and two clay sculptures.

7th Grade Art

7th grade art is also conducted as an exploratory studio and projects of study for this course include drawing, painting, and sculpture.  Students also have a brief unit on architecture when they create model houses out of clay.

8th Grade Art

8th grade art students create a whistle out of clay and then turn the whistle form into a small sculpture.  They also complete a unit on printmaking by making a print-block from a soft-cut material.  8th grade art exploratory also includes a drawing unit.
